Living by the water of the Amstel
The Weesperzijde lies on the eastern bank of the Amstel, with one of the finest views in the city. On summer days the whole of life gathers by the water.
Behind the quay lies a quiet, well-loved neighbourhood with characterful homes, small specialist shops and a strong sense of community. Urban yet relaxed.

Rowers on the river, terraces along the quay and the sun setting over the water in the evening. The Amstel sets the rhythm of the day here.
Small shops, familiar faces and quiet streets. The Weesperzijde has the scale of a village, with the city around the corner.

The Weesperzijde takes its name from the bank of the Amstel along the old road that led to the town of Weesp. For centuries this quay connected the city with its hinterland, with the river as its lifeline.
The neighbourhood was largely built up in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, with a characteristic 1930s feel. Across the water stands the stately Amstel Hotel; along the quay a village-like calm by the river has been preserved, just minutes from the centre.
